We are getting out of raising rabbits this year due to time constraints. We may get back into in the future. But for now, we'll just have a couple of does as pets. Therefore, our adult rabbits are also for sale.

ALERT: RHDV2 (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Viral Disease version 2) is a big concern right now in the rabbit community. Originated in Australia as a man made way to control the wild rabbit population. It's an incredibly contagious disease with a high kill rate of about 70-100%. It's affecting domestic and wild rabbits alike. It was first detected in February 2020 in New York and is now in states like New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Colorado, and Texas. It can be spread via flies, clothing, shoes, bodily fluids, feces, direct contact, ect. This virus is not water soluble so washing hands alone does not eliminate the threat of the virus. As viruses go, this one will probably be around for the next few years.

This warning is to make the public aware so they know to be cautious about where they are getting their rabbits and practice biosecurity to prevent the virus from further spreading. Quarantine any new rabbits you buy for at least a month if not two months. Rabbits that catch the virus tend to die within 2-3 days, and those that survive can continue to be contagious for a couple of months. 

So far we have not seen this virus amongst our own colony and continue to practice biosecurity. We haven't obtained any new rabbits since last year. We live remotely, and, because of COVID-19, we don't often leave the farm.
